DOVER (PA) – The Delaware Valley College field hockey team began a three-game road week with a 2-1 loss to Wesley College in a non-conference game.
The Wolverines (8-1) needed just 9:11 to reach the scoreboard as Nicole Hill found the cage off a feed from Brooke Bennett. Eleven minutes later, Sheree Pleasanton made it 2-0 with an unassisted tally.
It stayed a two-goal contest until 1:53 to go in regulation when
Nikki Rogers scored off an assist by
Danielle Heyne. It was the junior's first goal of the season, but it was as close as Delaware Valley (6-4) would get in the contest.
The Aggies held an 18-15 advantage in shots with Wesley holding a 10-8 edge in corners. Sarah Johnson stopped 12 shots in the win while reigning Freedom Conference Goalkeeper/Defender of the Week
Hollis Hancock tallied 10 saves for Delaware Valley.
The Aggies have another night game on Thursday when they head to nearby Gwynedd-Mercy College for a non-conference meeting. They then end the week away from Doylestown with a trip to Purchase, New York and a conference showdown with Manhattanville College on Saturday.
