ALTIERI RACKS UP 200TH CAREER WIN AS COACH, AGGIES SPLIT WITH MANHATTANVILLE

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College's Bob Altieri notched the 200th win of his coaching career as the Aggies split a Freedom Conference doubleheader with visiting Manhattanville College. The Valiants ran away with a 10-1 victory in the opener before Delaware Valley bounced back with a 7-5 triumph in the second game.

Altieri, a Delaware Valley College Hall of Famer for his playing days, took over as head coach in 2000 after a six-year stint as the team's top assistant. He has accumulated a 200-160 record and six trips to the conference playoffs during his tenure.

The milestone win had to wait until the nightcap as Manhattanville (19-14, 7-4 Freedom) put four runs on the scoreboard in the first inning and cruised from there in the opener. The Valiants racked up 11 hits and took advantage of six Aggies errors in the contest. Jason Monforte and A.J. Triano had two hits and two RBIs apiece for Manhattanville while Nick Parente scored three times. Meanwhile, Pat Yannucci tossed a complete-game, two-hit gem and improved to 5-1.

Freshman Dan Hrubos notched both hits for Delaware Valley (17-10, 4-8), including an RBI double in the seventh that scored Kellen Jarrett for the team's lone run. Hrubos finished 2-for-3. Chris Albaugh suffered the loss and fell to 2-1.

Mike Isgro hit the mound for the Aggies in the second game and the all-conference pitcher allowed three runs (two earned) and six hits over eight strong innings. He helped his own cause with a two-run triple in the fifth inning and then scored on an RBI single by Dylan Saldutti for a 6-2 Delaware Valley advantage.

The team traded runs in the seventh inning and Isgro left the contest with a 7-3 lead. However, Manhattanville put together a two-out rally in the ninth and scored a pair of runs with a bases-loaded hit batsmen followed by a walk. Freshman Zac Stavish came in from the bullpen and fell behind in the count to Triano. Stavish got the count to 3-2 and he hurled a fastball past Triano for the strikeout and the victory. It was Stavish's first save of the year and the win was Isgro's fourth in five decisions.

Kevin Weingart went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Aggies. The senior also moved into the fifth place on the Delaware Valley all-time list as the centerfielder has now racked up 103 RBIs in his standout career,

Kevin Murray wad 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for Manhattanville. Alexander Mason went five innings on the mound and suffered the loss.
