FORT PIERCE (FL) – Delaware Valley College notched 28 runs, including 16 over a two-inning span in the opener, as the Aggies swept a doubleheader from Utica College, 18-5 and 10-6, on the team's Spring Break trip to Florida.
Delaware Valley improved its record to 7-1 overall, including a 3-1 mark down South. The Aggies trailed 4-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning of the opener when their bats came alive. They scored nine times in the fifth and added seven more in the sixth. The big blow of the contest was a grand slam home run by sophomore catcher
Mike Thomas. It came in the fourth inning and gave Delaware Valley the lead for good at 7-4.
Thomas finished the game 3-for-3 with a double, home run, three runs scored and five RBIs.
Zach Chodur had a 2-for-5 effort with a double, triple, two runs scored and two RBIs.
Kellen Jarrett and
Dylan Saldutti each went 3-for-3 with Jarrett also knocking in a pair of runs. James Bodine came off the bench late in the game and went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
Mike Isgro went six innings and picked up the win.
The nightcap saw senior
Rob Galdieri get his first starting nod in a varsity game. He allowed three runs over five innings and picked up the win. Offensively, Chodur went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases.
Dylan Saldutti had a three-hit contest and scored twice while
Matt Barto went 2-for-5 and knocked in a pair of runs.
