AGGIES EARN 3-1 WIN OVER 2007 ELITE EIGHT QUALIFIER JUNIATA

HUNTINGDON (PA) – Delaware Valley College scored two unanswered goals in the second half as the Aggies notched a 3-1 road victory against a Juniata College squad that reached the NCAA Elite Eight last year and was ranked 14th in this year's preseason poll.

The win was the sixth in the last seven games for Delaware Valley, which improved to 7-2 on the season. The Aggies will now prepare for their Freedom Conference opener at home against defending champion King's College on Saturday, September 27. The loss to Delaware Valley dropped Juniata to 2-7 on the current campaign.

The Aggies got on the scoreboard just 7:09 into the contest as senior and all-time leading scorer Michelle Cernobyl took a feed from Bethany Pavlik and deposited her 15th goal of the season. The assist was the ninth of the year by Pavlik, just one shy of tying the school single-season record she and teammate Danielle Heyne each set last year.

The Eagles tied the game six minutes later on an unassisted tally by Meghan McGlone. It remained a 1-1 contest until 3:43 into the second stanza when Heyne scored her fourth goal of the year off an assist by Stephanie Dec. Nicole Stefanoni then added an unassisted insurance goal – her second of the year - with 9:58 remaining.

Juniata held advantages of 10-8 in shots and 10-7 in corners. Jackie Deschenes was credited with four saves and the win for the Aggies while Abby Funk had three stops at the other end.
