AGGIES' WINNING STREAK SNAPPED

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Brooke Woodland scored two goals as Division II Philadelphia University snapped host Delaware Valley College's five-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory.

The Lady Rams won for just the second time in nine contests this season while the Aggies, who were looking to set a program record for consecutive victories, dropped to 6-2.

The game was scoreless after the first half before both teams struck in the first five minutes of the second stanza. Delaware Valley got on the scoreboard first when Michelle Cernobyl pounced on a loose ball and tallied her 14th goal of the season with 32:05 remaining. However, Philadelphia responded 80 seconds later as Lynette Buck connected for her second goal of the year.

It remained a tied ballgame until 14:44 was left on the clock when the Lady Rams were awarded a penalty stroke. Woodland took the shot and just got past Aggie goalkeeper Jackie Deschenes for the 2-1 advantage. Woodland struck again just seven minutes later for seventh goal of the season and a two-goal advantage. Delaware Valley made things interesting with 1:25 to go as Holly Rich struck for her first goal of the season, but Philadelphia hung on for the victory.

Delaware Valley, which held a 12-0 advantage in shots in the first half, was held to just three in the second half as the Lady Rams sent 14 attempts toward the cage. Deschenes finished with 10 saves while Anne Stroebel was credited with six stops and the win.
