DELVAL FALLS IN OVERTIME

HAVERFORD (PA) – Margaret Selsor's goal with 3:49 remaining in the first overtime lifted the Haverford College field hockey team to a 3-2 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College in a non-conference game.

With the clock ticking towards a second overtime, Selsor took a pass from Roxanne Jaffe and beat Aggie goalkeeper Jackie Deschenes for her 10th goal of the season and the game winner. The victory lifted the Fords to 6-5 on the year while Delaware Valley fell to 8-5.

Jaffe gave Haverford a 1-0 advantage as she scored off a penalty stroke with 18:14 remaining in the first half. The Aggies tied the contest up 11 minutes later as Michelle Cernobyl scored off an assist from Danielle Heyne.

Cernobyl struck again with just 23 seconds to go before the intermission as she notched her team-best 19th goal of the season. Bethany Pavlik earned the assist on the play to give her 11 on the season and top the previous school record of 10 that both she and Heyne set last year.

However, the Fords evened things up just 103 seconds into the second stanza as Jaffe set up Alex Waleko for her seventh tally of the year. It stayed a 2-2 contest until Selsor's overtime heroics.

Haverford held advantages of 27-12 in shots and 18-12 in corners. Both Deschenes and the Fords' Maggie Cronin were credited with six saves in the game.
