Box Score VERO BEACH, FL- DelVal baseball competes in the final day of their Florida spring break trip on Thursday, March 7th, against Wilkes. The Colonels are a familiar foe to the Aggies as Wilkes used to be members of the MAC Freedom Conference prior to the start of this season.
The starting pitcher today for Delaware Valley is senior
Ethan Saxe.
Wilkes would get the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning to give them a 1-0 lead.
Delaware Valley would counter with two back-to-back base hits from Nate Fischer and
Reese Hackett to start the top of the 2nd. Junior
James Miskanic drove in two runs with a double down the left field line to give the DelVal the lead.
The Aggies pitching would struggle in the bottom of the 2nd with six walks and a base hit allowed to give Wilkes a 5-2 lead. Midway through that second inning, Delaware Valley put sophomore Rueben Costin on the mound to try and limit the damage.
Delaware Valley would get runners on first and second to start the top of the 3rd with a base hit from Hank Beilen and a walk from
Gavin Migliori, but were not able to score any runs.
Wilkes would score two more runs in the bottom of the 3rd with one base hit and three walks.
The Colonels would tack on another run to make it 8-2 in the bottom of the 4th.
The Aggies would bring in
Colin Foley to start the bottom of the 5th inning.
Delaware Valley gets the offense going in the top of the sixth inning when
James Miskanic drives in a run on a double once again down the left-field line. With runners on second and third with only one out, Wilkes would bring in a new pitcher to record back-to-back outs to end the inning.
Wilkes would score two runs in the bottom of the 7th to make it 10-3.
Delaware Valley scored two runs in the top of the eighth off of an RBI force-out from
James Miskanic and an RBI single from
Blake Ramos.
Bottom of the eight,
Derek Cannon would come into the game to pitch for the Aggies. Cannon would give up two unearned runs and Wilkes would take a 12-6 lead.
The final score would be Wilkes taking a win over Delaware Valley by a score of 12-5. The Aggies will be back in action later today in a nine-inning game against Penn State Behrend.
