GWYNEDD VALLEY (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's cross country team took second place out of five times that scored in the opening race of the 2022 season hosted by Gwynedd Mercy.
On a warm afternoon and ideal conditions, senior Carter Owen and sophomore Justin Kaufman led the Aggies with fifth and sixth place finishes, respectively. Owen finished the 5K race in 18 minutes, 48.2 seconds for a pace just over six minutes per mile. Kaufman was close behind with his mark of 19:04.3 and a 6:09 pace.
Rookie Matthew Skikus earned a top-10 showing in his first collegiate event with a time of 19:14.8, good for ninth place overall. Fellow rookie Brance Fronheiser finished 22nd with a time of 22:06.3 and Justin Rosenberger rounded out the team with a mark of 24:32.9.
The Aggies racked up 57 points to finish behind Chestnut Hill College (Division II). DelVal will have nine days off before competing again at Lebanon Valley College on Saturday, September 10.
