BETHLEHEM (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's and women's cross country teams participated in the 48th annual Lehigh Paul Short Run on Friday and many of the Aggies set personal-records as the women competed in the 6K and the men ran the 8K.
The DelVal women's cross country team competed in the open 6K with over 300 competitors. Alyssa Blackmon, Molly Laird, and Samantha McCurry all ran personal-best times. Blackmon led the group with a finish of 25:03.9 and Kelly Hastings followed at 28:11.4.
Laird's personal record of 29:49.1 was the third-best showing for the team and McCurry (31:40.4), Mullen (31:44.4), and Couse (33:15.4) all finished in consecutive order.
The Aggie men ran in the open 8K among 533 competitors and all five DelVal student-athletes reached personal best marks. Carter Owen led the way with a time of 28:23.1 and Justin Kauffman was close behind with his PR of 28:47.2.
A trio of first-years, Matthew Skikus (30:14.2), Brance Fronheiser (33:55.4), Kevin Smith (45:10.6), all ran their best times as a collegiate athlete.
The teams will run one more time before the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships. The Aggies will compete at Wilkes University on October 14th with the championships set for October 29th at Lebanon Valley College.
