Box Score 2 PURCHASE (NY) – Defending Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom champion Manhattanville College made the most of its first home games of the year as the Valiants swept Delaware Valley University, 11-3 and 8-0.
Manhattanville, which reached the Super Regional round of the NCAA tournament last year, improved to 12-8 overall and 6-0 in the MAC Freedom while the Aggies fell to 2-7 and 1-5.
The opener saw the Valiants scored five times in the bottom of the first. They added one more in the third before DelVal got on the board in fourth as
Maddy O'Donohue hit her third home run of the season, a solo blast over the left field fence.
Manhattanville made it 8-1 before the Aggies got single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, freshman
Kayla Keller hit her first collegiate home run while
Jamie Stefani singled home
Koraima Dudley in the sixth. The Valiants ended the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 11-3 final.
Stefani allowed just four earned runs in the game as DelVal hurt itself with five errors. Alycia Feeney picked up the win for Manhattanville.
In the nightcap, the Aggies managed just three hits off of Melissa Hess. Two were from O'Donohue in a 2-for-3 showing while Hanna Kantorski had the other base hit.
The Valiants scored single runs in the second and fourth frames and ended the game with a six-run sixth. Aarin Hartenstein completed her five-RBI day by going 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two runs batted in.
DelVal will host Brooklyn College for a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday (1 p.m.).
