O'Donohue Leads Aggies' Offensive Explosion In Double-Header Sweep At College Of Saint Elizabeth

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University recorded 42 hits and 31 runs in a double-header sweep of host College of Saint Elizabeth. Game one ended 16-5 and game two, 15-8.
 
The Aggies improved their overall record to 6-13 while the Eagles fell to 5-23.
 
In the first inning of the opener, Kelsey Stoneberg got DelVal on the board with a single to left field that scored Maddy O'Donohue who was aboard with a lead-off double. Then, with the bases loaded, Morgan Brown hit a double that resulted in three runs  and put the Aggies up 4-0 after one. DelVal added to its lead in the second with an RBI single from Stefani and a triple from Stoneberg that scored two.
 
-Saint Elizabeth countered with three runs in the bottom of the second. Megan Lipinski knocked a two-RBI single and Heather Passaro crossed the plate after a wild pitch to make it 7-3 .
 
The Eagles cut their deficit to three in the fifth with an RBI double from Victoria Ciallella, but the Aggies responded in a big way in the sixth.
 
DelVal scored nine runs on nine hits and two errors in the sixth inning to extend its lead to 16-4. O'Donohue had two hits in the rally including a triple that resulted in two RBIs and Erica Heller picked up a pair of RBIs with a bases-loaded single.
 
Saint Elizabeth added one in the bottom of the frame for the 16-5 final.
 
Every Aggie in the lineup managed to get a hit and they combined for 21 for the game including four hits apiece for Brown, O'Donohue and Stefani. Stefani and Stoneberg each had three RBIs while Brown and O'Donohue knocked in two and O'Donohue scored four times. Stefani pitched a complete game with five strikeouts.
 
Saint Elizabeth was led by a 3-for-4 effort and three RBIs from Lapinski and Marielis Alicea pitched five-plus innings with five strikeouts.
 
In the night cap, it was the Eagles who got on the board first with an RBI double to left field from Elizabeth Unger and an RBI knock from Marie Goodman that made it 2-0.
 
DelVal tied the game in the next half inning thanks to a bases loaded, RBI single from Stefani. However, Unger put the Eagles back on top in the second with an RBI single.
 
The Aggies took their first lead of the game in the top of the third when O'Donohue smacked her fourth home run of the year, a two-run shot, to cap off a three-run inning and make it 5-3.
 
Saint Elizabeth, however, would not go away as it tied the game at five apiece in the bottom of the third. Alicea picked up an RBI triple in that inning. It then regained the lead in the fourth when Ciallella laced a single that plated two and made it 7-5.
 
DelVal's offense then exploded with nine runs and eight hits over the next two frames. In the fifth, Brown came through with a two-RBI double and she added an RBI single in the sixth to help the Aggies to a 14-7 lead heading into the seventh inning where O'Donohue notched an RBI sacrifice fly to make it an eight run game.
 
The Eagles managed one run in the bottom of the seventh for the 15-8 final.
 
O'Donohue ended the second game 4-for-5 with four RBIs and four runs scored while Stefani also managed four hits to go with three RBIs and two runs scored. Brown and Stoneberg each had three hits with Brown picking up three RBIs and Koraima Dudley knocked two triples and scored twice. Brown started the game on the mound going three-plus innings while Stefani closed it out the rest of the way.
 
For Saint Elizabeth, Danesha Triplett went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Unger picked up two RBIs with two hits. Three different players pitched and combined for five strikeouts.
 
The Aggies will do battle with Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe FDU-Florham, at home, on Saturday, April 22 at 12 p.m.
