Box Score 2 CENTER VALLEY (PA) – DeSales University held visiting Delaware Valley University to one run and nine hits as the Bulldogs swept the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom doubleheader, 7-0 and 9-1.
DeSales improved to 11-17 overall and 4-6 in conference play while the Aggies fell to 4-11 and 1-9.
In the opener, Andrea Artesani hurled a five-hit shutout as a double and a single by
Kayla Keller and singles by
Koraima Dudley,
Morgan Hawk and
Jamie Stefani were the lone base knocks by DelVal. Stefani went the distance on the mound and struck out seven, but suffered the loss.
The Bulldogs got single runs in the first two innings and had two more in both the third and fourth stanza. A run in the fifth made it 7-0 as Alexa Beaumont and Erin Redden had three hits and two RBIs apiece.
The second game saw DeSales jump out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and the squad never looked back. The Bulldogs made it 6-0 in the third before the Aggies got their lone run in the fourth as
Kelsey Stoneberg smacked a solo home run over the left field fence, her first round-tripper of the season. DeSales ended the game with three tallies in the bottom of the fifth.
Hawk, Stefani, Stoneberg and
Maddy O'Donohue had the DelVal hits while
Morgan Brown pitched and took the loss.
Hailey Warner notched the complete-game win while Madison Coughlin had a home run and two runs batted in.
The Aggies will host Moravian College for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 18 (3 p.m.).
