Box Score 2 DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Samantha Bloom hurled a one-hit shutout in the opener and then picked up a win in relief in the nightcap as King's College swept a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom doubleheader from host Delaware Valley University, 2-0 and 4-3 (8 innings).

It the first conference games of the year for both teams and the first time that they each hit the field in weeks due to the snow earlier this month. The Aggies, who had not played a game since February 28, slipped to 1-2 overall while the Monarchs, without a contest since March 8, improved its overall mark to 5-4.

Bloom had 11 of her 12, first-game strikeouts over the opening five innings. She permitted just base runners for the contest with the lone hit being a leadoff double in the fourth inning by opposing pitcher
Jamie Stefani.

Stefani was dominant as well as she retired the first 10 batters she faced and she finished the game giving up just two runs on five hits while fanning five.

King's put together two hits in the fourth and produced a run off of it. Bloom had a one-out single and moved to second on a ground out. Megan Beaupre then hit a single up the middle to bring in Bloom for the 1-0 lead. Then in the sixth, Lexi Wolk had a two-out triple and Beaupre came through again for the RBI single. Beaupre was 2-for-3 with the two runs batted in.
Stefani got the call again for DelVal in game two and gave up a first inning run before settling in. Meanwhile, the offense scored one in the second inning and added two more in the third for a 3-1 lead. In the second,
Morgan Brown led off with a triple and she later scored on a two-out single by
Morgan Hawk. In the third, the Aggies loaded the bases with nobody out. After a foul out,
Kelsey Stoneberg ripped one off the third baseman's glove and down the left field line for a two-run single.

King's got one back in the fifth as Beaupre notched an RBI double. It stayed 3-2 until the seventh when a DelVal error put the tying run on base. With two outs, Beaupre walked and Rachael DeTore blooped a single into right field that plated the tying run.

Stefani nearly ended the game in the bottom of the seventh as she smacked one off the left field fence and just shy of going over for a home run. However, she was stranded on second base and the game went to extra innings.

Alizabeth Ellsworth drew a leadoff walk and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and a ground out. Amber Saylor then laced a single through the left side for the 4-3 lead. DelVal put the tying on base with one out in the bottom of the eighth, but Bloom, who had come into the game in the seventh, retired the next two batters for the win.

Brown, Hawk and Stefani were each 2-for-4 in the nightcap. Stefani gave up three earned runs in eight innings. Beaupre was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Monarchs.
