Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Wilkes University picked up its first Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom win with a 3-0 triumph over host Delaware Valley University on Wednesday evening. Set scores were 25-17, 25-10 and 25-9
The win improved the Lady Colonels to 10-9 overall and 1-2 in league action while the Aggies fell to 1-8 and 0-3. It was the second time that the two teams met this year as Wilkes hosted a tri-match earlier in the month and the squad posted a 3-0 win over DelVal (match did not count toward the conference standings).
The Lady Colonels finished with 43 kills, including 15 in each of the first two sets. They jumped out to big leads in both. Then in the third set, Wilkes scored the first six points and never looked back. Abby Sanders and Ellen Mook had 10 and nine kills respectively. Danica Benson notched 14 digs while Megan Powers handed out 35 assists.
The Aggies, who had 17 kills on the evening, were paced by
Taylor Klecan's six kills. The sophomore also added six digs. Freshman
Kayla Bracken had five kills and five digs while fellow rookie
Kourtney Campbell added four kills and two blocks. Freshman
Jess Holster led the defensive effort with 11 kills while junior
Nicole Daigneault passed out 14 assists.
DelVal hits the road on Saturday, September 3 when it travels to King's College to take part in the MAC Crossover Tournament. The Aggies will face MAC Commonwealth squads Arcadia University and Hood College at the event.
