DelVal Wraps Up Season with Competitive Match Against King’s

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's volleyball team hosted King's College for a competitive three-set match up on senior night, falling to the Monarchs, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-21).

DelVal came out strong in the opening set, exchanging points with the Monarchs in an early back-and-forth battle. The Aggies built an early 5-3 lead behind kills from Monique Smith and Layla-Deanna Rabanal. Kings responded with a run of their own, tying the score at five before the teams continued trading points. DelVal maintained its advantage midway through the set, leading 15-13, but the Monarchs found momentum late and put together a scoring run to take the opening set, 25-18.

The Aggies carried that early momentum into the second set, jumping out to a 6-3 lead with kills from Camilla Garcia, Smith, and Rabanal. Kings gradually shifted the momentum, putting together a run to build a 17-9 lead. The Aggies battled back with kills from Rabanal, Garcia, and Smith, cutting the deficit to four. Despite the late push, King's maintained its lead to take the set, 25-19.

Facing a two-set deficit, Delaware Valley delivered its strongest performance of the night in the third set, keeping the pressure on King's from start to finish. Kills from Charlotte Kampf, Zoe Bera, and Smith, along with a service ace from Rabanal, helped the Aggies stay within striking distance. The two teams continued trading points down the stretch, with DelVal fighting its way to a 19-19 tie. The Aggies continued to fight with their last scoring effort from a kill by Kampf. Kings responded with three consecutive points to close out the final set, 25-21, and complete the three-set sweep.

The game concludes the season for the Aggies finishing at 3-20 overall and 0-8 in MAC Freedom play.
