CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's volleyball team fell in three sets on the road at DeSales Thursday evening, dropping the match by scores of 25-13, 25-13 and 25-10.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the opening set before a kill from
Layla-Deanna Rabanal put the Aggies on the board. DeSales extended its advantage to double digits before a Bulldog attack error sparked a brief DelVal run, capped by a
Monique Smith kill. Rabanal and Smith combined for three more kills as the Aggies closed the gap with a late 4-0 run, but DeSales scored the final two points to take the set.
In the second set, Smith and Rabanal combined for three consecutive points to erase an early three-point deficit and even the score. Kills from Rabanal and
Madison Alexander helped the Aggies stay within two as the Bulldogs looked to pull away. DeSales eventually built a 10-point advantage to take the set, with Smith adding two more kills for DelVal down the stretch.
Smith opened the scoring for the Aggies in the third set to even the score at two, but the Bulldogs responded with six straight points. Rabanal helped spark a 4-0 DelVal run to cut the deficit to two, while Smith and
Zoe Bera added kills to keep the Aggies in the mix. DeSales maintained its offensive pressure, however, to close out the set and secure the match.
DelVal returns to action Friday, Oct. 23, with a 7 p.m. road match at Keystone College.
