Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Cedar Crest College won the final three sets of the match as the Falcons recorded a 3-1, non-conference victory at Delaware Valley University. Set scores were 21-25, 25-16, 27-25 and 25-23.
The win was the first in seven tries for Cedar Crest while the Aggies fell to 1-3.
DelVal took command of the first set with six straight points to break a 13-13 tie and cruised the rest of the way. The Falcons tied up the match after taking seven of the final eight points in the next set.
The third set was a back-and-forth affair that saw the Aggies trail 24-22 and faced two set points. However, they took three straight and had a set point of their own. Back came Cedar Crest with two in a row for a 26-25 led and a DelVal hitting error gave the Falcons the set.
The two teams were tied at 20-20 in set number four before Cedar Crest picked up the next three points. DelVal pulled to with one at 23-22 before Ericka Clayton registered a kill for the Falcons. The Aggies saved one match point, but Clayton ended the contest with a kill.
Clayton finished with 10 kills and 17 digs for Cedar Crest. Molly Schnuabelt added nine kills while Maggie Olock had seven kills, five service aces and 16 digs. Celina Danish dished out 24 assists.
For DelVal, freshman
Kayla Bracken led the way with 13 kills, 13 digs and three service aces. Sophomore
Taylor Klecan had eight kills, 11 digs and three aces while
Kourtney Campbell added seven kills.
Nicole Daigneault and
Jess Holster had 10 digs apiece with Daigneault also handing out 24 assists.
