Box Score 2 DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Rachel Linso and Allison Herbert hurled complete-game shutouts to give visiting King's College a Freedom Conference doubleheader sweep of Delaware Valley University, 8-0 and 7-0.
Linso pitched five innings (game called after five due to the eight-run mercy rule) and allowed just two hits. Herbert went seven innings in the nightcap and permitted just three hits and one walk while fanning five.
The Lady Monarchs (7-10, 3-3) scored a run in the first, two in the second, four in the third and one more in the fourth in the opening contest. Megan Beaupre and Alizabeth Ellsworth led the 11-hit attack with two apiece while Samantha Bloom went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
The Aggies (1-17, 1-7) got both of their hits in the fourth on back-to-back singles by
Kelsey Stoneberg and
Nicole Ebersole.
Ashley Rice allowed just three earned runs in five innings and took the loss.
In the nightcap, King's was up 1-0 going into the third when it notched five runs on three hits and a pair of Delaware Valley errors. Helena Suspic had the big hit in the inning with a two-run single. The Lady Monarchs added a run in the seventh for the 7-0 final. Suspic was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs while Bloom went 3-for-5 and knocked in a run.
