DELVAL VOLLEYBALL BATTLES UNDEFEATED IMMACULATA BEFORE FALLING 3-1

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – In a match that went back and forth all evening, it was visiting Immaculata University that won the last three sets for a 3-1 triumph over non-conference foe Delaware Valley College.
 
The Mighty Macs remained undefeated with the victory as they improved to 8-0 on the season. But it wasn't easy as the gritty Aggies battled before falling to 1-9 on the year.
 
Down 23-22 in the first set, Delaware Valley received back-to-back kills from Gina Page and then a kill from Maria Cameron to take the set. The Aggies then jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the second before Immaculata rallied for a late 21-15 advantage. Delaware Valley pulled to within one at 23-22, but Jamie Rombach notched the last two kills for the Mighty Macs to even the match.
 
In the third, Immaculata ran off five straight points to build a 17-12 lead. The Aggies battled back and tied it at 22-22 before the Mighty Macs got the last three points of the set. Immaculata then appeared to have pulled away in the fourth as it went up seven, 16-9. But the Aggies made it a one-point set on three occasions, the last at 21-20. The Mighty Macs answered with four of the last five points for the victory.
 
Rombach led all players with 20 kills while Arden Vizzard had 14 kills and 22 digs. Gabrielle Guerrera added seven kills and seven blocks while Maranda Jones and Brittany Thompson combined for 40 assists.
 
Page paced Delaware Valley with 14 kills and 26 digs. Cameron had 13 kills, 16 sigs and five blocks while fellow rookie Taylor Klecan notched 13 kills and 15 digs. Amy Bodine, Nicole Daigneault and Lilly Gilbert combined for 28 digs. Crystal Ronan's all-around play saw her finish with four kills, three service aces, 11 digs and 41 assists.
