DELVAL EASTERN SOFTBALL SPLIT 8-4 DECISIONS

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College split a pair of 8-4 decisions in its Freedom Conference doubleheader against visiting Eastern University on Saturday.  The Aggies were on the winning side in the opener, but failed to complete a comeback in the second game.

Delaware Valley moved to 3-15 overall on the season and 2-6 in league play while the Eagles stayed above .500 at 11-10 overall and 4-4 in Freedom contests.
Alexis Boucher got the nod for the Aggies in game one as she pitched all seven innings and surrendered four runs (three earned) and nine hits. She struck out two batters and walked one for the second win of her junior campaign.

Eastern got on the board in the first inning after one hit and three Delaware Valley errors.  The Aggies were able to limit the damage to just one run as Boucher got Emily Houk to ground into an inning-ending double play.  Delaware Valley responded in the bottom of the frame with a two-out double from Jackie Wear that scored Loran Mihaliak and Hannah Robinson.

The Eagles regained the lead in the third after a wild pitch scored one and Houck singled in another for the 3-2 lead.  Delaware Valley came back in the fourth with four runs on three hits and two errors. Mihlaliak knocked in a run on a ground out and Robinson plated one on an infield single.  Freshmen Sydney Edwards then had the big blow with a two-run single to open up a 6-3 advantage.  

The Aggies tacked on two more in the sixth inning (bases loaded walks to Nina Stachura and Lauren Alvarez) and Eastern added one in the seventh (RBI single by Paula Redmon) for the 8-4 finish.
Edwards and Wear each had three hits and two RBIs in the game while Robinson and Mihaliak were each 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Eastern jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning of the second game as Houk singled up the middle to score Kaley Snyder, followed by an RBI single from Karlee Kerchersky and a sacrifice fly from Melinda Kreimer.  The Eagles extended the advantage to 6-0 with a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

The Aggies got on the board in their half of the fifth with two runs off of three hits and one error. Stachura had an RBI single while Wear came around to score on an error.  However, the Eagles came back with two runs of their own in the top of the sixth as Kasey Williams bunted in one and Houck brought in another with an RBI double.

Mihaliak's RBI double in the sixth made it an 8-3 contest. Delaware Valley then threatened in the bottom of the seventh as Edwards and Stachura started the inning with a pair of singles and advanced to second and third on a wild pitch.  Boucher came to the plate and hit a dribbler back to the pitcher who came home with the throw and got Edwards on a close play at the plate.  Lauren Alvarez loaded the bases with one out on an infield single. Tori Stachura reach on an error that scored one and brought the tying run to the plate, but the Aggies stranded three runners for the third time in the game and the 8-4 final

Mihaliak was 3-for-5 with an RBI and Robinson was 3-for-4 with a run scored.  Stacey took the loss with eight runs (five earned) and eleven hits allowed over seven innings.

Alyssa Welsh, who started and lost game one, came back with a complete-game in the second contest. She permitted four runs (two earned) and 13 hits. Houck and Melinda Kreimer had two RBIs apiece.
