AGGIE SOFTBALL CELEBRATES THEIR SIX SENIORS IN SEASON-FINALE AGAINST DESALES

DelVal seniors Tori Stachura, Jackie Wear, Whitney Stacey, Loran Mihaliak, Magen Majeski and Nina Stachura
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Delaware Valley College concluded its 2014 season with a Senior Day celebration of six of its players despite dropping a Freedom Conference doubleheader to DeSales University, 8-0 and 11-2.

The Bulldogs improved their record on the season to 13-16, including an 8-6 mark in conference play. The Aggies ended the campaign 3-29 overall and 2-12 in the Freedom.

All six seniors for Delaware Valley made standout plays on their final collegiate day.  Nina Stachura got it started in the first game with a tremendous diving catch on a line drive hit to shallow center field.  Twin sister and second baseman Tori Stachura followed suit later in the game with a diving stop of her own on a sharp hit ground ball to her left.  In the second game, it was Whitney Stacey's turn as she fielded a base hit in the outfield and threw home to catcher and fellow senior Jackie Wear who applied the tag and saved a run.  Loran Mihaliak led the way at the dish for Delaware Valley with two hits on the day and Magen Majeski pitched four strong innings in game two, surrendering just four earned runs.

In the first game, the Bulldogs used a seven-run third inning to pull away from the Aggies.  Carly Bartholomew and Taylor Kelly each had two-run singles in the frame.  DJ McCauley pitched a complete-game shutout as she gave up just three hits (a double by Tori Stachura and singles from Wear and Hannah Robinson) and struck out four. Barholomew finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Game two saw DeSales score five runs in the second inning on five hits and two Delaware Valley errors.  Bartholomew, Kelly, and Elisa Andrew picked up RBI doubles in the stanza.
Delaware Valley got its only two runs of the day in the fourth inning when Nina Stachura got aboard on a fielders' choice and moved to third on a Robinson single.  Stachura then score on an RBI single from Alexis Boucher and Robinson crossed the plate after an error by the Bulldogs' first baseman.

The Bulldogs added three more runs in the fourth and fifth innings to close out the sweep with an 11-2 victory. McCauley picked up another win on the day as she allowed one earned run and five hits. Michelle Gessner was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Wear added one more hit to her record-setting numbers as she singled in the first inning of the nightcap. The two-time all-conference honoree and 2012 Freedom Player of the Year ended her standout career as the Aggies' all-time leader in hits (155), stolen bases (68) and doubles (47). She was also second all-time in runs scored with 102 while her .404 career batting average placed her third in that category.
