AGGIE SOFTBALL DROP PAIR OF GAMES AT MISERICORDIA

DALLAS (PA) – Four Misericordia University pitchers combined to allow no runs and eight hits over 13 innings of work as the Cougars swept a Freedom Conference doubleheader from visiting Delaware Valley College, 8-0 and 7-0.
 
Misericordia improved to 13-11 overall and 4-4 in league action while the Aggies fell to 3-19 overall and 2-8 in the Freedom.
 
The opener saw Bailee Schies allow three hits and strike out seven in five innings of work while Alissa Steier pitched the final stanza as the game was called after six innings due to the eight-run mercy rule. Jess Armmillay and Nicole Petti split the nightcap and allowed five hits while fanning six.
 
The Cougars scored one in the first and added five more in the fifth for a 6-0 lead. They then ended game two with two runs with one out in the sixth. Sam Hare was 1-for-1 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Melanine Quintanilla also drove in a pair of runs.
 
Loran Mihaliak, Hannah Robinson and Whitney Stacey each went 1-for-2 for Delaware Valley. Alexis Boucher allowed just three earned runs over five-plus innings and took the loss.
 
Megan Hardy was the hitting standout in the second game as she went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs. Andi Veneziale was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Mihaliak was 2-for-2 for the Aggies while Stacey was 2-for-3 and took the loss on the mound despite allowing just three earned runs.
