Box Score 2 MADISON (NJ) -- FDU-Florham remained undefeated in the Freedom Conference as the Devils swept visiting Delaware Valley College, 11-1 and 16-1, on Sunday. Both games were called in the fifth inning due to the eight-run mercy rule.
FDU-Florham improved to 9-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in league play while the Aggies fell to 2-10 and 1-3.
In the opener, the game was tied at 1-1 after
Tori Stachura reached on a fielder's choice that scored
Alexis Boucher. However, the Devils scored six times in the fourth and added four more in the fifth to put the game away. Nikki Caruso hit a two-run homer in the fourth while Kristie Criller smacked a three-run shot in the fifth to highlight those stanza. The two combined for six RBIs in the game,
Boucher and
Hannah Robinson had two hits apiece for Delaware Valley while Stachura was 1-for-3.
Whitney Stacey took the loss on the mound.
In the second game, FDU-Florham notched 11 runs on 10 hits in the second inning and added five more tallies on five hits and two Aggie errors in the fourth. Part of that was a three-run homer by Toni-ann Canova and she finished the game 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and six RBIs.
Delaware Valley's lone run came in the top of the fifth on a solo home run by
Loran Mihaliak, her first of the season. It was the lone hit off of Sydney Worek. Boucher pitched one-plus innings and took the loss.
