Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH (SC) -- Delaware Valley College had a rough Wednesday on its Spring Break trip to South Carolina as the Aggies dropped a pair of contests to Mount Aloysius College (9-3) and Division II McKendree University (16-0 in five innings).
The setbacks dropped Delaware Valley's record to 1-5. The Aggies will wrap up their trip on Thursday with single games against Bridgewater College and Saint Joseph's-Long Island.
In the Mount Aloysius game, the Mounties (1-4) scored a single run in the first and added four in the second. Delaware Valley got one back in the bottom of the second as
Jackie Wear doubled and later scored on a double by
Loran Mihaliak. Mount Aloysius put the game away with three runs in the fifth and one more in the seventh. The Aggies' final runs came in the fifth on passed balls that scored
Hannah Robinson and
Tori Stachura.
Magen Majeski pitched two innings, gave up five runs and took the loss. Mihaliak pitched the final five innings and allowed four runs and four hits while striking out seven. She was also 1-for-2 with the RBI double at the plate.
The nightcap was all McKendree (4-7) as the Bearcats scored in four of the five innings including the fourth when seven runners crossed the plate. Jamie Doggendorf had the blig blow with a three-run homer in the stanza and was32-for-3 with a triple, a home run, three runs scored and three RBIs. Susan Goetze and Liz Klussman combined to allow just five hits to the Aggies. One of them was a pinch-hit double in the fourth by
Rachel Metz.
Alexis Boucher took the loss.
