Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley College volleyball team nearly took a set from Freedom Conference power DeSales University, but dropped a 3-0 overall decision to the visiting Bulldogs. Set scores were 25-15, 25-13, 25-16.
After DeSales (16-7, 3-1 Freedom) cruised in set number one, the Aggies (3-15, 0-4) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the second thanks to six straight points on the serve of
Crystal Ronan. Delaware Valley still held leads of 13-7 and 18-13 before the Bulldogs battled back to tie it at 18-18.
It was still deadlocked at 21 apiece when DeSales scored three straight. Delaware Valley got the serve back to Ronan, but Logan Wieziolowski ended the set with a kill after Amanda Wallitsch somehow kept Ronan's serve in play at 24-23. The Bulldogs then scored 17 of the first 24 points in the third set, en route to the victory.
Julie Blessing and Sienna Hurst had nine kills apiece for DeSales while Wieziolowski had nine kills and eight blocks. Lisa Wallitsch handed out 32 assists.
For Delaware Valley, the trio of
Taylor Klecan (nine kills, four digs),
Gina Page (seven kills, 13 digs) and
Maria Cameron (six kills, 15 digs) combined for 22 of the team's 26 kills and 32 of its 61 digs. Ronan added 21 assists and 15 digs in the loss.
