AGGIE SOFTBALL DROPS TWO AT DESALES

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CENTER VALLEY (PA) – DJ McCauley tossed a no-hitter in the first game and Rachel Vogel followed with a three-hit shutout in the nightcap as host DeSales University notched a pair of 8-0 victories over Freedom Conference foe Delaware Valley College. Both contests were called after five innings due to the eight-run mercy rule.

McCauley allowed just three base runners as Allison Tomasino reached on an error to lead off the first, Krystle Mazza drew a walk in the same stanza and Alexis Boucher was hit by a pitch in the second. McCauley also finished with eight strikeouts.

Meanwhile, the Bulldog (11-6, 6-0) offense notched 13 hits in the opener and scored in four of the five innings. Shelby Wilson and Ericka Esposito had two-run singles as part of a four-run, third innings while McCauley helped her own cause by drilling a solo home run in the fourth. Esposito, McCauley and Wilson each had two hits while Samantha Gibson was 3-for-3.

DeSales managed just five hits in the nightcap, but it took advantage of three Aggie errors as only three of the eight runs in the game were earned. Julie Brugger (double) and Wilson (single) knocked in runs in the first while Emily Hockman had a two-run double to highlight a three-run second inning. Carly Bartholomew later added an RBI double as she was lone Bulldog to have two hits in the contest.

Meanwhile, Vogel allowed just a pair of singles to Whitney Stacey and one base hit to Jackie Wear. Stacey was a perfect 2-for-2 for Delaware Valley, which fell to 6-10 overall and 0-4 in the Freedom).
