Box Score CAMDEN (NJ) – A long five-set match saw host Rutgers-Camden prevail over Delaware Valley College by sets scores of 16-25, 25-17, 26-23, 23-25 and 20-18.
The win improved the Scarlet Raptors to 5-23 overall while the Aggies had their four-game winning streak snapped as they dropped to 12-13.
Both teams hit the ball well as they each had over a .220 hitting percentage (.229 for Rutgers-Camden, .224 for Delaware Valley). The Scarlet Raptors finished with 70 kills compared to 58 by the Aggies, including a 13-9 edge in the fifth and deciding set. Delaware Valley had chances to win the match in that final set, but Rutgers-Camden came through at the end.
Janel Gluch had 19 kills for the Aggies while
Destinee Horning had 15 kills and 17 digs.
Alyssa Riggins finished with 12 kills and 12 digs and
Gina Page added 11 kills and a team-high 19 digs.
Alex DeFrancesco and
Samantha King hit double digits on the defensive end with 13 and 10 digs respectively. Setter
Crystal Ronan tallied 51 assists, 17 digs and four service aces in the loss.
For Rutgers-Camden, Olivia Rowland and Cortnee Wilkerson had 17 and 16 kills respectively. Melanie Kaiser finished with a match-high 28 digs while Michelle Dixon and Brooke Hassan combined for 61 assists and 26 digs
