Box Score DALLAS (PA) – In each of the last three years, the winner between Delaware Valley College and Misericordia University has gone on to be the fourth and final seed in the Freedom Conference tournament. If that proves to be the case again in 2003, then the host Cougars grabbed the advantage with a 3-0 triumph on Wednesday evening.
Set scores were 27-25, 25-22 and 25-21 in favor of Misericordia, which improved to 8-9 overall and 2-1 in the Freedom. The Aggies fell to 8-8 and 1-2.
Misericordia won a five-set battle in Doylestown in 2010 only to see Delaware Valley do the same on the road the next year and eventually qualify for its first conference tournament berth since 1988. The Cougars won a 3-0 decision last year and went back to the Freedom postseason.
Delaware Valley held the lead throughout most of the first set, including a six-point advantage at 17-11. The team also had a 9-2 lead in the second set, but the Cougars were able to rally each time and then took the third to sweep the match.
