DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College saw its school-record, 13-match home winning streak come to an end as four-time defending Freedom Conference champion Eastern University posted a 3-0 victory (25-12, 25-13, 25-18).
The loss was the first this season for the Aggies as they fell to 5-1 overall and 0-1 in the Freedom. They won all 10 of their matches in James Work Gymnasium last year and their first three of the 2012 campaign.
Eastern, which advanced all the way to the Division III semifinals a season ago, moved their record to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
The Eagles notched 45 kills and had a .361 hitting percentage compared to 19 kills and a .033 mark by the Aggies. They also added seven aces and six blocks on the evening.
Katrina Pisch paced Eastern with 16 kills and four blocks while Kearby Benak added 10 kills, 13 digs and two blocks. Lauren Sproles had eight kills while Amy Guarino dished out 37 assists.
Delaware Valley was led by
Janel Gluch's seven kills.
Gina Page and
Destinee Horning combined for nine kills and 12 dsigs while
Crystal Ronan finished the night with 16 assists and seven digs.
