DOVER (DE) –
Destinee Horning notched a combined 39 kills and 29 digs as Delaware Valley College split a pair of non-conference matches at Wesley College on Thursday evening. The Aggies dropped a 3-1 opener to Washington College (Md), but bounced back with a 3-1 triumph over the host Wolverines.
Horning, a sophomore, had 17 kills and 16 digs in the opener, but it wasn't enough as the Aggies fell to the Shoremen (6-1) by set scores of 26-24, 25-23, 20-25 and 25-22.
Alyssa Riggins added 12 kills, 15 digs and five service aces while
Crystal Ronan provided 44 assists and 19 digs for Delaware Valley.
Jenny Lee led Washington with 17 kills and Lauren Bell added nine. Lauren White posted team-highs of 37 assists and 23 digs.
Horning was at it again in the Wesley match as she recorded 22 kills and just five errors in 39 attack attempts. She also added 13 digs in a block as the Aggies (4-2) defeated Wesley (1-5) by set scores of 25-16, 18-25, 25-20 and 20-16.
Janel Gluch and
Gina Page notched 13 and 10 kills respectively for Delaware Valley while Ronan dished out 42 assists. Kristen Roberts and Jessica Taylor combined for 24 kills for the Wolverines.
