DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Alvernia University notched double digits in runs in both contests as the visiting Crusaders swept a non-conference doubleheader from Delaware Valley College, 10-0 and 12-4.
In the opener, Alvernia (15-5) scored two runs in the first and four more in the second for the early 6-0 advantage. Amanda Galanti had a pair of singles in each and drove in a combined three runs to key the spurt. The Crusaders then added four more in the fifth, including a two-run single by Samantha Penk, to end the contest due to the eight-run mercy rule.
Galanti finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs while Penk and Mirandi Peto were each 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Peto also scored three runs. Deanne Dungee and Danielle Kitchen combined for the three-hit shutout with Dungee going four innings to earn the win.

Gabrielle Murphy had the lone hits for the Aggies.
Delaware Valley (9-15) got out to a quick start in the second game as it plated two runs in the first and one in the second. It had three doubles in the first inning, including run-scoring two-baggers by
Keri Hardiman and
Sarah Lazar. In the second, Erin led off with a single and eventually scored on an Alvernia error.
It remained a 3-0 Aggie lead until the top of the fifth when the Crusaders sent 12 batters to the plate and notched eight runs on six hits and two Delaware Valley errors. Diane Lightner had two hits and two RBIs in the stanza while Peto hit a two-run double that tied the game at 3-3 at the time.
Alvernia added two more runs in the sixth and two in the seventh as it finished the game with 11 hits, including nine in the last three innings. Lightner was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Kitchen and Peto also knocked in two runs apiece. Michelle Jensen went five innings and picked up the win.
Jess Bensinger was 2-for-3 with a double while Hardiman, Lazar and
Loran Mihaliak knocked in runs for the Aggies.
