MISCUES COSTLY IN PAIR OF DELVAL LOSSES

FORT MYERS (FL) – The Delaware Valley College softball team dropped games to a pair of six-win teams on Thursday afternoon. The Aggies opened with a 7-3 setback to North Park University and followed with a 5-1 loss to Worcester State University.

Delaware Valley (2-4) hurt itself with a combined 11 errors, including six in the loss to North Park (6-1). The Aggies had a 3-1 lead after four innings thanks to a two-run double by 2010 Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year Allison Tomasino and an RBI single from Loran Mihaliak.

However, the Vikings tied the contest with two runs in the top of the fifth and took command with four more runs in the sixth. The Aggies had three of their errors in those innings while Katie Anderson drove in one of her two runs with a double for North Park. She was 2-for-5 in the contest. Kate Seebacher went the distance and allowed just three hits, en route to the win.

Keri Hardiman took the loss in relief of Greer McComas. Tomasino, Mihaliak and Jess Bensinger had the lone hits for the Aggies.

In the second game, Worcester State (6-2) scored five times in the top of the fifth to break a 1-1 deadlock. The Lancers had five hits in the inning, including a two-double by Jamie Jacoubs, and there was one crucial Delaware Valley error. Michaella did not allow an earned run and permitted just two hits in seven full innings.

Maggie Kichler took the loss for the Aggies despite allowing just one earned run in seven innings. Hardiman and Erin Fox picked up the hits in the loss.
