AGGIES TAKE TWO AT PHILADELPHIA BIBLICAL

LANGHORNE (PA) – Delaware Valley College improved to 16-4 on the season as it swept a pair of matches at Philadelphia Biblical University on Wednesday. The Aggies opened with a 3-1 triumph over the host Crimson Eagles and followed with a 3-0 blanking of Gwynedd-Mercy College.

Delaware Valley has now won 11 of its last 12 matches and has already tied for the second-highest, single-season victory total in program history. The Aggies have equaled the 16 wins from the 1996 team (16-10) and they are just two behind the record set by the '97 edition (18-14) with eight regular-season matches remaining.

After dropping the first set to Philadelphia Biblical (11-10), 25-20, the Aggies took the next three by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-17.  Janel Gluch had 16 kills while Destinee Horning and Gina Page had 10 kills apiece. Horning also added a team-high 19 digs. Crystal Ronan was credited with 39 assists and 14 digs.

The victory over Gwynedd-Mercy College (4-10) saw Delaware Valley win by set scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 26-24. Page notched 12 kills and 12 digs while Gluch had 10 kills and just one error in 21 attempts. Alyssa Riggins added six kills while the tandem of Alex DeFrancesco and Sammy Alevras-Tarbell combined for 27 digs. Ronan dished out 29 assists in the win.
