DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Paige Horrigan had 11 kills and just one error in 25 attacks as she led DeSales University to a 3-0 victory over host Delaware Valley College. Set scores of the Freedom Conference match were 25-18, 25-15 and 25-18.
The Bulldogs, who won the conference title in 2007 and were runners-up each of the last two years, improved to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the Freedom. The Aggies fell to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Delaware Valley was without its leading hitter over the last three years in the injured
Kaitlyn Olsen. Her teammates rallied and trailed by just one, 17-16, in the opening set. However, the Bulldogs took eight of the final 10 points for the set. DeSales then jumped out to leads of 14-5 and 19-9 in the next two sets and cruised to the win.
In addition to Horrigan, Kylie Fehnel and Haley Petrarca had six kills apiece. Justine McNulty notched 26 assists and 14 digs while Eden Reichard and Emilie Baker combined for 32 digs.
Janel Gluch paced the Aggies with nine kills while
Destinee Horning,
Jen Keller and
Ashley Mikulsky added five kills apiece. Mikulsky also had 13 digs to her credit.
Alyssa Riggins led the defensive effort with 14 digs while
Amy Scordato dished out 24 assists.
