DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College used a balanced attack and improved to 4-1 on the season with a 3-1 victory over visiting Rutgers University-Camden in a non-conference match. Games scores were 24-26, 25-21, 25-20 and 25-22.
The Aggies held a 24-22 lead in the opening game only to see the Scarlet Raptors (1-1) rally for four straight. The second game was Delaware Valley's turn to make a comeback as, down 20-17, it scored eight of the next nine, including seven straight on the serve of
Jaki Blood. The Aggies pulled away in game three and then survived a scare in game four as Rutgers-Camden scored five straight to make it 24-22. However,
Ashley Mikulsky's kill on the final point gave Delaware Valley the victory.
Four Aggies had seven or more kills in the match with Mikulsky and Fisher leading the way with nine apiece. Mikulsky also added 19 digs while Fisher had 13 digs.
Amy Estep had seven kills and a match-high 30 digs while
Kaitlyn Olsen added seven kills, nine digs and three blocks. Blood and Scordato teamed up for 30 assists and
Danielle Ford had three blocks on the evening.
Katherine Crosy led all players with 10 kills and she also contributed 20 digs and four service aces for the Scarlet Raptors. Rebecca Calabro had nine kills and 16 digs while Krista White dished out 30 assists.
