ST. DAVIDS (PA) – The Delaware Valley College volleyball team ended its 2009 season with a 3-0, Freedom Conference loss at nationally-ranked Eastern University. Set scores were 25-11, 25-12 and 25-11.
The Aggies posted a 15-12 overall record and 1-6 mark in league action. Combined with last year's 14-12 record and the squad notched back-to-back winning campaigns for the first time in more than a decade. Eastern, ranked 23rd in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III poll, improved to 24-4 overall and 7-0 in the Freedom. The Eagles will be the top seed in next week's playoffs as they look to successfully defend their conference crown.
Kaitlyn Olsen paced Delaware Valley with six kills while
Amy Estep added three kills and six digs.
Ashley Mikulsky led the defensive effort with seven digs. Senior
Jaki Blood tallied two kills, five digs and eight assists in the final match of her collegiate career.
Heather Kauffman had 10 kills and no errors in 13 attempts for Eastern. She also added seven digs and five blocks. Maria Horning dished out 30 assists in the win.
