AGGIES DROP 3-1 THRILLER TO WILKES

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Marissa Harrison recorded 21 kills, 15 dig and five service aces to lead Wilkes University to a 3-1 victory over host Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference match. Game scores were 23-25, 25-14, 27-25 and 25-20

The Lady Colonels improved to 13-9 overall and 3-2 in conference action while the Aggies saw their records fall to 14-8 and 1-4.

Delaware Valley trailed 21-16 in the first set, but scored eight points off the serving of Kaitlyn Olsen. Wilkes picked up two straight points, but the Aggies were able to get the next one for a 25-23 victory in the opener. However, the Lady Colonels quickly tied the match with a dominating 25-14 result in the second set.

The third set was a back-and-forth affair that had four leads changes down the stretch. Delaware Valley served twice for the set, but was unable to finish it off with the last coming at 25-24 when Harrison tied it with a kill. LeeAnn Searfoss then recorded an ace and the Aggies had an attack error to give Wilkes the 27-25 victory.

Delaware Valley bounced back and led by as many as eight, 14-6, in the fourth set. The Lady Colonels rallied, including three straight aces by Harrison, and eventually tied the set at 19-19. Wilkes then registered six of the final seven points to win the set and the match.

In addition to Harrison, Kate McGurk had 12 kill and 14 digs while Julie Page had 10 kills and nine 12 digs. Emily DeBuck finished the evening with nine kills while Searfoss recorded 48 assists, 14 digs and five service aces.

Jaki Blook and Amy Estep paced the Aggies with 14 kills apiece while the two also combined for 32 digs. Ashley Mikulsky added eight kills and 18 digs while Kaitlyn Olsen had eight kills, nine digs and four blocks. Amy Scordato dished out 36 assists and dug out eight balls.
