DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Emily DeBuck notched 10 kills to lead Wilkes University to a 3-0 victory over host Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference match. Set scores were 25-16, 25-21 and 25-16.
With the win, the Lady Colonels improved to 8-11 overall and 4-1 in conference action. The Aggies saw their record drop to 10-8 overall and 0-4 in the Freedom.
Wilkes notched 15 aces in the match, including eight in the opening set as it cruised to a 1-0 lead. The second set saw Delaware Valley rally with three aces from Ashley Mikulsky and one by Jaki Blood to tie the score at 21-21. However, the Lady Colonels notched the final four points of the set to go up 2-0, and they tallied 13 kills in the third set to close out the win.
DeBuck did not commit an error in her 16 attacks for a .625 hitting percentage. She also added two digs and one block. Katherine Harrington finished with six kills while Marissa Harrison and Kaitlny McGurk had four kills apiece and combined for 22 digs. Harrison also added five aces. LeeAnn Searfoss dished out 20 assists in the win.
Amy Estep led the Aggie attack with seven kills and also added 11 digs. Kaitlyn Olsen had five kills and one solo block while Blood and Mikulsky finished with three aces apiece. Blood also added 16 assists and five digs while Mikulsky added 11 digs.
