DELVAL CRUISES TO 3-0 VICTORY

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College had a strong hitting night as the Aggies notched a 3-0 victory over visiting Manhattanville College. Scores were 25-19, 25-15 and 25-15.

Although both teams are members of the Freedom Conference, Friday's contest does not affect the league standings. The two agreed to play a pair of matches this season with the official conference match taking place at Manhattanville on October 23.

The first set saw the Aggies (10-7) hold a 21-19 lead before they regained the serve and Jaki Blood served out the final three points. Blood then had four aces in a 7-0 run by Delaware Valley in the second set they extended a 9-8 lead to 16-8. The Aggies then raced out to 12-3 advantage in the third set, en route to the win.

Delaware Valley finished the 65-minute match with a. 313 hitting percentage as it recorded 39 kills and just eight errors in 99 attacks. Kaitlyn Olsen led the attack with 11 kills and no miscues in 22 attempts. Kelsey Fisher added eight kills and one error in 19 attacks while Amy Estep notched seven kills and a match-high 13 digs. Blood finished with 15 assists, eight digs and four aces while Amy Scordato dished out a match-high 16 assists.

Makana Gomes paced the Valiants (4-11) with seven kills, nine digs and three service aces. Fiona Molloy added five kills while Xiu Carrasquillo handed out 18 assists.
