DELVAL RALLIES FOR 3-2 WIN OVER PENN STATE BERKS

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Kaitlyn Olsen tallied 18 kills, including five in the decisive fifth set, as Delaware Valley College rallied for a 3-2, non-conference victory over Penn State Berks. Set scores were 15-25, 25-14, 25-27, 25-14 and 15-12 in favor of the Aggies.

The win was the second straight for Delaware Valley as it improved to 12-9 overall. The Nittany Lions fell to 9-10.

The Aggies fell behind 1-0 and 2-1 in sets before forcing a fifth and final set. They dropped the first four points of set number five, but answered with six straight on Kate Klish's serve to take the lead for good at 6-4. The lead was extended to 13-7 but Penn State Berks got back to within two at 14-12. However, Kelsey Fisher followed with a kill to end the match and give Delaware Valley the victory.

The 18 kills by Olsen was her third-highest total of the season. The freshman also added five blocks. Fellow rookie Amy Estep contributed 10 kills and 17 digs while Fisher and Jaki Blood added six kills apiece. Blood also had 26 assists and 15 digs. Kate Klish recorded 35 digs in the win.

Amanda Heflin had 12 kills and 13 digs while Rosemarie Scherzberg added nine kills for Penn State Berks.
