Preview: DelVal Football Gets Back to Work Hosting Misericordia

The Delaware Valley football team (2-1, 1-1 MAC) hosts the Misericordia Cougars (1-2, 0-2 MAC) this Saturday at James Work Memorial Stadium, kicking off at 1:00 p.m.

The Aggies hold an undefeated 9-0 record against Misericordia dating back to 2012. In their last seven matchups, DelVal has not allowed more than seven points. Last year, the Aggies clinched their sixth consecutive MAC Championship with a 28-6 victory over the Cougars in Dallas, PA, led by Jack Fallon, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns.

Notes/Storylines
  • DelVal's 54-game conference win streak ended last week at Stevenson University.
  • Trailing 21-14 against the Mustangs, Nahsir Morgan scored a 50-yard touchdown, but the extra point that would have tied the game was blocked.
  • Morgan found the end zone twice, with both touchdowns coming on his only receptions of the afternoon. Jack Fallon led the running backs with 61 yards and a score.
  • Louie Barrios IV passed for 178 yards, one touchdown, and one interception last week. He currently ranks second in the MAC with 663 passing yards and eight touchdowns.
  • First-year player Jovan Tyrell had a breakout game in Owings Mills, recording two interceptions, including one in the end zone for a touchback in his second career game.
  • Dante Vernieri and Jeremiah Clark led the defense with ten total tackles, while Darius Nichols contributed 3.5 tackles for a loss of nine yards.
  • Misericordia's Gavin Morris ranks third in the conference with 29 total tackles, while Lamontae Wilson leads the MAC with three pass breakups and two interceptions.
  • Quarterback Jacob Hunter ranks seventh with 414 passing yards, finding the end zone through the air once.
