GWYNEDD VALLEY (Pa.) – Sophomore Alyssa Blackmon earned a second place finish to lead the Delaware Valley University women's cross country team to a team runner-up showing in the 2022 season opener hosted by Gwynedd Mercy.
Blackmon posted a time of 23:14 flat in the women's 5-kilometer race, and finished less than a minute off the first place runner from Chestnut Hill College.
First-year Molly Laird and sophomore Samantha McCurry finished in consecutive order with times of 26:47.7 and 27:20.1 as the finished 11th and 12th, respectively.
Junior Sarah Mullen finished 15th out of 25 runners with a mark of 28:27.6 seconds and Catherine Couse followed at 31:27.8 ticks.
The Aggies scored 33 points and finished just one point off of host Gwynedd Mercy for the top honors. DelVal will have nine days off before competing again at Lebanon Valley College on Saturday, September 10.
