MILTON, N.Y. – The Delaware Valley women's cross country team claimed first place thanks to some key finishes at the ECAC Championships.
The team tallied 28 points to top the six-team field. Four of the Aggies who scored points placed in the top 10.
Emma East paced the team with its top finish. East claimed third overall in the race, crossing the line in 27:39.9.
Lindsay Taylor followed behind nearly 20 seconds later in sixth place with a final time of 27:58.5.
Kamella Gechter and
Emma Haas both placed top 10. Gechter took ninth with a time of 28:43.8 followed by Haas in 10
th with a time of 28:51.0.
Arianna Askew rounded out the point scorers in 13
th place with a time of 29:23.3.
Lexi Anderson and
Samantha Swearingen also participated in the competition. Anderson claimed 16
th with a time of 30:05.7 while Swearingen took 18
th with a time of 30:20.4.
The men's squad raced four total runners in the 8K.
Caleb Messenger led the squad in 24
th place with a time of 33:51.2.
Jack Bisignano was the next to finish for the Aggies placing 39
th with a time of 36:08.0.
Shane Ocampo and
William Hale rounded out the field for DelVal. Ocampo placed 46
th with a final time of 38:46.7 followed by Hale in 48
th with a time of 39:05.5.
DelVal returns to action next Saturday, Nov. 15 at the NCAA Metro Regionals hosted by Rowan University.
