ANNVILLE (Pa.) – Delaware Valley University football junior quarterback Louie Barrios IV was named the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Aggies 26-7 road victory over the 25th ranked Stevenson Mustangs.
It is the first conference weekly award for the transfer quarterback who propelled #10/#15 DelVal to a 5-0 mark overall and 3-0 MAC record with the win.
Barrios was responsible for all four Aggie touchdowns on Saturday with two through the air and another two via the ground attack. He finished 12-for-17 for 190 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the passing game, and he ran the ball nine times for 40 yards and another two touchdowns.
The junior signal caller got the scoring started early in the first quarter when he punched home a one-yard touchdown run to capitalize on an Anthony Nobile interception and return. Late in the second, Barrios found Tahmir Barksdale deep over the middle of the field for a 29-yard touchdown strike, and in the third, he hit Jordan Collazo with a 20-yard strike for his second passing touchdown of the game and a 19-0 Aggie lead. Barrios capped the scoring late in the fourth with another one-yard touchdown run to secure the 26-7 triumph.
Barrios and the DelVal football team will look to make it six-in-a-row when they welcome in Lycoming College for a MAC contest beginning at noon on Saturday, October 8.
