Box Score LANGHORNE (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team battled Cairn University for 95 scoreless minutes, until the home team found the back of the net in the first overtime to earn a 1-0 non-conference win.
The Aggies (1-7-1) were outmatched, 10-1, in shots on goal and, 6-1, in corner opportunities, but were managed to hold the fort and keep the Highlanders (4-3-2) off the board through regulation.
Four different players got a shot off for DelVal, but
Alysa Ross' was the only one to challenge the keeper.
Haley Young went the distance in goal and made nine saves in the loss.
Carin's goal came off the right foot of Dakota Hitchner as she tucked in the low left corner. Lauren Costa was credited with the assist. Hitchner led her team with four shots in the game, three on goal.
The Aggies' next game will be their Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opener at DeSales next Saturday at 5 p.m.
