Women’s Soccer Battles King’s to Scoreless Draw

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Delaware Valley women's soccer battled King's College to a scoreless draw on Wednesday afternoon, with both teams creating late chances but neither finding the back of the net.

The Monarchs put three shots on target in the opening 2:16, but Dekota Barthold turned away each attempt. Ten minutes later, Abigail Foley had a chance for the Aggies but sent her shot over the net. Barthold made back-to-back saves in the 21st minute before Addison Allain entered the game. Marissa Rogers later got a shot off following a DelVal throw-in but missed the net. King's continued to test the Aggies' defense, but Barthold stood tall with eight saves in the first half.

Early in the second half, DelVal earned a corner kick but could not generate a shot. Around the 55th minute, the Monarchs created multiple chances, putting one shot on target while sending two wide and having another blocked by the Aggies. In the 65th minute, Foley recorded DelVal's first shot on goal, but it was stopped by the King's goalkeeper. A minute later, Sarni and Jarleny Aguilar-Acuna traded shots on target, with both goalkeepers making saves. Barthold came up with another stop in the 77th minute before Gianna Grassifulli tested the Monarchs' goalkeeper with a long-range attempt. With both teams still searching for a breakthrough, Barthold made her 13th and final save with just over a minute remaining. Jellema fired a shot wide left in the closing seconds, and the teams settled for the scoreless draw.

Following the draw, the Aggies move to 3-10-3 overall and 0-5-2 in MAC Freedom play. DelVal closes out its 2026 season on Saturday, Oct. 31, when it hosts FDU-Florham for Senior Day.
