Women’s Soccer Falls to FDU-Florham in Season Finale

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Delaware Valley women's soccer celebrated six seniors on Saturday afternoon as Jenelle Fry, Gianna Clappsy, Rena Kotsedakis, Payton Witman, Elizabeth Oresto, and Gianna Grassifulli were recognized for Senior Day before the Aggies' season finale against FDU-Florham. The Devils scored the game-winner just 24 seconds after DelVal had equalized late in the second half to take a 2-1 victory.

FDU-Florham opened the scoring in the fourth minute when Jones found the back of the net past Mackenzie Hammerer. Hammerer recorded her first save in the 11th minute. Around the 18th minute, Grassifulli sent a shot off the crossbar from near the corner of the field. Hammerer was tested again about 10 minutes later, stopping an attempt by Hamouda before Ferrara sent a shot high. The Devils continued to apply pressure with several more attempts going wide before halftime.

Hammerer made another save 10 minutes into the second half as the Devils continued to control the pace, then punched away the ensuing corner kick. Piper Jones made several defensive stops as the Aggies worked to move the ball downfield. In the 65th minute, Abby Foley found Marissa Rogers, but the play was called offside. Five minutes later, Riley Petrie made a clearance that went back to the Devils, but Hammerer came up with a diving save to bring her total to six. After Aguilar-Acuna drew a foul, Alexa DelGiudice got a chance on goal with 16:29 remaining but sent her shot just over the net. Following an injury timeout, Grassifulli put a long-range attempt on target, but the Devils' goalkeeper made the stop. In the 80th minute, Grassifulli had another opportunity in front of the net but headed a pass just wide as the Aggies searched for the equalizer. DelVal finally broke through in the 84th minute after FDU-Florham was issued a yellow card. On the ensuing free kick, DelGiudice found the back of the net to even the score at 1-1. The tie lasted just 24 seconds, however, as Jones scored her second goal of the afternoon off an assist from Duffie to put the Devils back in front. FDU-Florham held on for the 2-1 victory.

The Aggies close out the 2026 season with a 3-11-2 overall record and a 0-6-2 mark in MAC Freedom play.
