ANNVILLE (PA) – Delaware Valley University senior
Evan Augsburger (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Menonite) became the first Aggie tennis player to earn all-conference honors as he was named to the second team all-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom on Friday morning.
Augsburger joined the team prior to this season after being a three-year standout, and team captain, on the DelVal men's soccer team. He honed his game quickly and finished with a perfect 7-0 mark in singles matches and picked up a pair of wins in doubles play as well. Against MAC Freedom opponents, Augsburger went 3-0 including a 6-1, 6-1 win at sixth singles against Misericordia University to help the squad earn the first conference victory in program history. In that same match he earned an 8-4 win at doubles.
"I am very proud of Evan for his accomplishments this season," said first year head coach
Mary Lou Cardie. "Although he was new to tennis this year, his athleticism enabled him to excel quickly and make a significant contribution to the team."
