DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's and women's tennis teams each fell to visiting Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe Manhattanville College on a breezy, but mild, Wednesday afternoon. The men were downed, 9-0, while the women fell, 7-2.
For the men, Ryan Lombardo and Zach Harkcom teamed up at first doubles but dropped an 8-3 match and, at third singles, Vince Rothbort and A.J. Weisgerber were upended, 8-2. All singles matches were settled in straight sets with Harkcom having the best showing, but falling, 6-1, 6-2.
On the women's side, the second doubles team of
Nicki Fox and
Erin Volov earned an 8-6 win, and
Miller Huertgen picked up a three-set victory at fourth singles. After dropping the first set, 6-3, Huertgen won the next two by scores of, 6-4, 6-3.
The first three singles matches were won in straight sets by Manhattanville and DelVal had to forgo the final two singles matches.
The Aggies men's and women's squads will both be in action again one week from today when they travel to take on FDU-Florham on April 24 at 3:30 p.m.
