Box Score ABINGTON (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University women's tennis team prevailed with a 5-4 decision at Penn State Abington on Saturday afternoon for its third consecutive victory.
The Aggies are now 4-1 overall on the season and will host Drew University at 2:30 PM this Wednesday, March 27 before the first conference match against Misericordia.
Penn State won its first two singles matches, including one by default, but the Aggies rallied off four consecutive victories to take the lead into doubles.
Chloe Dennerlein picked up the first point of the day for the Aggies with back-to-back 6-4 sets while
Erin Volov defeated Isabella Blackwell in the tiebreaker set, 6-4. The first set of that match went to extra frames after being deadlocked at 6-6, but Blackwell prevailed, 7-4. Volov followed with a 6-2 and 6-4 win.
Miller Huertgen gave the Aggies the lead with two 6-2 sets and
Nicki Fox closed out singles with by allowing just one point with a 6-1 set followed by a 6-0 set.
In doubles, Denerlein and Huertgen earned the only victory for DelVal to secure the 5-4 team victory. They won their match by a score of, 8-4.
